MEN IN WALL
SET UP.

PROJECTORS
The four small white video connectors connect into the port next to the audio output on the laptops and then to the projector leads (15 pin VGA or SVGA cables) which then plug into the data inputs on the projectors. The order of the men is JEDI (the Indian guy) far left, WARREN (the American) mid left, BAS (the Spanish guy) mid right, and HOLGER (the German) far right. The order is also written on the top of the computers.
We normally space the projectors so that the lenses are equidistant over the length of the wall ie 1/8th, 3/8th , 5/8th, 7/8th across. So if the wall was 32 feet long we would put the projectors with their lenses at 4feet, 12feet, 20feet, and 28 feet from the side.
In judging the distance of the projectors from the wall this depends on their throw. Ideally the middle of their zoom should give a picture height of around 5 and 1/2 feet allowing the final size to be zoomed down to four feet or up to seven feet. The size of the image is also sometimes affected by the keystone and this should be taken into account.
When aligning the images it should be noted that from scene to scene the frames change size slightly and move at times slightly left or right. It is easiest to set the vertical alignment with the whole computer screen rather than just the frame of the video.

MICE
Insert the four MOUSE RECEIVERS (black sticks) into the laptops USB ports before startup. After startup click the switches on all four mice. They should all be blinking. Then click the button on the underside of the mouse (use the one with the trackball, the other is a backup). The receivers should stop blinking and all four cursors should now respond to the radio mouse. This is only used for syncing the four computers – use the normal pad on the laptops for opening the movies, shutdown etc.

AUDIO
The audio leads connect into the headphone sockets on the laptops. From the far right laptop (which has the music on it) use both connectors panned left and right. For the other three use whichever lead (left or right) is giving the strongest signal. Pan the left computer to the left, and the mid left to mid left and the mid right to midright on the mixer. Basically when one of the men speaks it should come from roughly the place he is on the wall.

POWER ETC
The power cable connects to the port on the right side of the laptops. The computers run quite hot so we either place them on a metal shelf or raise them slightly to allow air to circulate underneath (a few cassette boxes under them or something similar). The lids should also be kept full open as the laptops ventilate through their keyboards.
