Public dance sessions go on display
 |
| Billy Cowie with his installation |
Many of us would cringe with
embarrassment if we had to
watch ourselves dancing.
But that is exactly what visitors
to the Lighthouse Digital Lounge
are able to do after video sessions
with leading choreographers.
An installation being showcased
by arts agency South East Dance
gives people a free dance lesson
- and the results are instantly
posted on the internet.
Visitors to www.move-me.com
can watch the results of each
session.
A three-dimensional film of a
life-size dancer is also on display
at the venue in Kensington
Street, Brighton. Both pieces
are on show daily from 10am
to 9pm until Sunday.
The interactive exhibition is part
of the tenth Dance for Camera
Festival, a weekend of dance
films being shown as part of
Brighton's Cinecity film festival.
Films are being shown at the
Sallis Benney Theatre in Grand
Parade, the Lighthouse Digital
Lounge and The Basement in
Kensington Street, from Friday
to Sunday.
Professor Liz Aggis, of the
University of Brighton, said:
"The festival is a cauldron of
cutting-edge dance concoctions
and Brighton has its finger on
the pulse."
